The Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECE) is designed to provide graduate early childhood teachers with knowledge, skills and understanding that will equip them to provide such quality early childhood education and care. The Bachelor of Early Childhood Education is delivered on campus and is suitable for both domestic and international students.

What qualifications do you need to be a teacher in Australia?

In addition to being qualified, all teaching students in Australia must complete literacy and numeracy tests to ensure that their skills are within the top 30% of all Australians. Students are also expected to undergo a criminal background check and a Working With Children Check.

Can you become a teacher without a degree?

You need a university qualification to work as a teacher in Australia and, in most states and territories, there are two common pathways: complete a four-year teaching degree – which, depending on where you studied, qualifies you to become an early childhood or primary school teacher and, in some circumstances, a secondary school teacher. Excelsia has Master of Teaching - primary or secondary to equip you with the qualifications you need to become a teacher; alternatively, if you are a postgraduate, you can study a Master of Education.
