Assessment

Excelsia’s approach to assessment focuses on fair, clear, and effective ways to measure student learning and progress. It includes different types of tasks – graded (summative) and non-graded (formative) as well as self and peer assessments, all designed to help students succeed and meet learning goals. Assessments are created with fairness in mind, considering the diverse needs of all students and ensuring tasks are accessible and achievable.

Students receive clear instructions for every assessment, and regular, helpful feedback is provided to guide their learning and improve performance. Assessments are carefully designed to match learning outcomes, ensuring that what students are tested on reflects what they have been taught. Excelsia also reviews its assessment practices regularly through external moderation and peer review to maintain quality and fairness. This process meets the standards of academic and professional communities while helping students understand expectations and achieve their best. The kinds of assessment tasks vary widely across the different courses. Please refer to individual course webpages for examples of assessment practices and expectations.
