Excelsia University College’s School of Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) offers a dynamic and immersive learning environment for students passionate about everything from music to film production. CAPA courses provide students with the opportunity to develop their craft through practical experiences, industry mentorship and collaborative projects. The School of CAPA places strong emphasis on industry engagement and hands-on learning. Students participate in multiple theatre productions, short film projects and industry placements to gain real-world experience. The courses include mentorship from professionals, ensuring that students are exposed to current industry standards and best practices.

The curriculums are designed to cover a broad range of disciplines within the performing arts, including songwriting, instrument learning, producing films, acting, directing, scriptwriting, stage management and theatre production. Excelsia seeks to provide both academic and personal support to students throughout their journey, fostering a close-knit, collaborative environment where students are more than just numbers – they have direct access to staff who guide them in refining their craft. This commitment to student success is reflected in our undergraduate Student Experience Survey results, highlighting Excelsia’s reputation as a supportive and creative community that encourages cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Bobby Abraham, Excelsia’s Chief Global Engagement and Partnerships stated, ‘Our strength is our one-on-one tuition and care. Attractiveness of our courses comes from the incredible lecturers who deeply care about shaping artists and equip them with the skills needed to thrive in a volatile industry. You will have the opportunity to learn and discover your full potential from professionals in a course that not only facilitates growth but is done in an environment that cares about the individual.’

Many CAPA alumni have gone on to achieve success in the creative industries. Esther Williams, who studied a Bachelor of Dramatic Art at Excelsia, has pursued a career in musical theatre, securing leading roles in professional and commercial productions and continuing to expand her skill set in the industry. Her dedication to performance has allowed her to work with renowned directors and choreographers, setting her on a promising trajectory. Hailey McQueen, who studied a Bachelor of Dramatic Art at Excelsia, transitioned from student to educator, now shaping the next generation of performers as a drama teacher. Her journey highlights the diverse pathways available to CAPA graduates and the strong foundation provided by Excelsia’s performing arts programs.

For many CAPA students, their passion for the creative arts extends beyond performance, leading them to build portfolio careers that combine artistic practice with education. Excelsia’s Master of Teaching (Secondary) equips graduates with the skills and qualifications to inspire future generations while maintaining their artistic careers. By pursuing this pathway, students can leverage their industry experience to teach drama, music, or film studies in schools, ensuring a stable and rewarding career while staying engaged in the arts. This combination of creative and educational expertise opens doors to diverse opportunities, shaping the future of the creative industries.
