Applicants with Work and Life Experience

Applicants who do not have a NSW Higher School Certificate (or equivalent) or completed their secondary education more than two years ago and have not undertaking or completed vocational education training (VET) or higher education study since then can apply for admission using work and life experience. 

“Experience” could include a combination of factors which demonstrate readiness for higher education. Includes mature age entry, professional experience whether completion of the Special Tertiary Admission Test (STAT) is required or not, community involvement or work experience.

In some circumstances,  your previous work experience and associated training may also count as credit towards your Excelsia course.

To be eligible to apply for admission to a degree program as a work and life experience student, candidates must meet a range of educational pre-requisites, work experience and English language proficiency requirements. For more information enquire online now.

Excelsia College courses are taught in English and require English Language Proficiency. The English Language requirements for each course can be found on the courses page .

Applicants for whom English is not their first language must provide certified documentary evidence that their secondary schooling, or tertiary studies of at least 1 year, was conducted in the English Language or they have satisfactory results in an acceptable English Language proficiency examination.

Results are to be no more than two years old at the commencement of their study.

Comparative scores for recognised tests are included below:

If the applicant is successful they will be issued an offer letter and a written agreement. Students will need to respond to the offer within 6 weeks. This is done online and a confirmation will be emailed back to the applicant. At this point, applicants are welcome to apply for Credit or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). If you are eligible for credit or RPL, you may be exempt from completing some units and you may be able to finish your degree in a shorter amount of time.

Before you start your degree, consider how much your course will cost. At Excelsia, tuition fees are charged by the undergraduate or postgraduate course units taken per study period.

Besides your course fees, there may be other costs associated with study, such as textbooks, equipment and other learning materials.

Excelsia College welcomes Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander applicants who may be able to successfully complete a given course, but who may not have had reasonable prior opportunity to develop experience and qualifications sufficient to satisfy the entry criteria for that course.
