Biographical details

Lauren is an experienced and dedicated music educator who co-founded Sydney Vocal Academy with her husband Tim. From 2013–2022, SVA provided singing, piano and guitar training for hundreds of students, and was a thriving and transformational music community. Lauren is also an experienced communications consultant and business manager, and she is passionate about equipping creatives to thrive.

  • Bachelor of Science (Psychology) from University of Southern Queensland

  • Bachelor of Music from Wesley Institute (now Excelsia College), specialized in contemporary piano performance.

  • PhD (Creative Arts) with James Cook University (current).

     

Research Interests

  • As part of Lauren’s current PhD studies, she is investigating natio-cultural creativity and human thriving in Australia’s popular music ecosystem.

Awards and Honours

  • During her time at JCU, Lauren has been awarded an RTP Stipend Scholarship, the William Thomas William Scholarship, and the Elizabeth Pearse Music Scholarship (twice). She was also awarded the Joyce Iggulden Memorial Prize for Excellence in Music Research in 2020 and 2022.
