Biographical details

Anthony Iwuagwu is a social worker and a social gerontologist with specific research interest in the health and wellbeing of older adults, persons living with disability and culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Anthony has over 5 years experience teaching in higher learning in Nigeria, Canada and Australia. He also has experience supervising field placement for both undergraduate and graduate social work students. Anthony adeptly blends his constructivist philosophy with diverse teaching methodologies to foster students engagement and critical thinking.

Education

Anthony holds a bachelors and Masters degree in Social work from the University of Nigeria. Committed to excellent classroom delivery, Anthony also obtained a professional diploma in Education from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, along with a second masters degree in Social Gerontology from the University of Southampton, UK.

Research Interests

Anthony employs a qualitative approach to investigate pivotal topics within social work, including Intergenerational caregiving; Aging, Disability, culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

Awards and Honours

Anthony was a recipient of the Commonwealth (UK) scholarship for masters study and has also won the Alzheimer Society of Fellows research grant in Canada worth 65,000 Canadian dollars. Anthony has received specialized training in individual care
